Batya Friedman: So, I had one question. You have had a lot of experience interviewing Rw-, women who were raped, and I know that that’s a new, it’s a new kind of thing with genocide, to think about rape. What – and it’s a difficult thing to interview people about. What have you learned about how to do those interviews well – but sensitive to the women – that you would pass on to other investigators?
0:30
0:48
BF: How to ask questions, what to ask?

Interpreter: You know, before coming to ICTR, I was a judge in my country and I, I was also filing cases to the court. And with ICTR when they started investigating on rape, male investigators were interviewing victims.
2:47
Interpreter: And you know, in Rwanda, sex matters is very, very sensitive, but we tried and succeeded to write some statements on those cases. But later on, we realized that some of them were not reluctant to talk to males and ICTR made a team of female investigators to deal with those cases.
